MC Shan is an influential hip-hop artist who gained prominence in 1983 when he was caught attempting to steal a car by the future head of Cold Chillin' Records. His connection to renowned producer Marley Marl, who is also his cousin, played a significant role in his career. Shan became a member of Marl's Juice Crew All-Stars and released several singles, including the classic "The Bridge." His debut album, 'Down by Law,' was released in 1987 and solidified his B-boy persona. He followed this with the 1988 album 'Born to Be Wild.' In 1990, Shan released 'Play It Again, Shan,' which showcased a more mature perspective and featured a new producer. This album remains his last release to date. Subsequently, Shan transitioned into production work, gaining recognition for his contributions to Snow's hit track "Informer" in 1992.
