MC Trouble, born LaTasha Sheron Rogers on July 30, 1970, was a pioneering rap artist and the first female rapper signed to Motown Records. Hailing from South Central, Los Angeles, she was crowned the "Princess" of rap. MC Trouble released her debut studio album, "Gotta Get A Grip," in 1990, which featured a blend of hardcore rap and commercial R&B. Her first single, "(I Wanna) Make You Mine," featuring an unnamed artist, was released on May 25, 1990, and reached number 15 on Billboard's Hot Rap Singles chart. The title track of her album, "Gotta Get a Grip," was released as the second single on September 14, 1990. Despite her success, MC Trouble faced personal challenges, having been born with epilepsy. She received daily treatment to manage her condition. Tragically, she passed away in her sleep on June 4, 1991, while at a friend's home in Los Angeles, shortly after suffering an epileptic seizure that led to heart failure. The group A Tribe Called Quest dedicated their song "Vibes & Stuff" to her and other deceased rap artists.
