Meg Bowles is a writer and performer of ambient electronic music, known for her ambient orchestral soundscapes for over 25 years. A classically-trained composer-synthesist, Meg began her musical journey as a flutist and completed formal studies in classical music performance at Northwestern and Boston Universities. After graduating from Boston University in 1979, she pursued a career in investment banking, earning an M.B.A. in finance from Columbia University in 1984. She worked as a derivatives trader before leaving the field in 1992 to focus on advanced studies in shamanism, Jungian psychology, and psychoanalysis, as well as to create electronic space music. Meg released her first two CDs, Inner Space and Solstice Dreams, in 1993, followed by the critically acclaimed Blue Cosmos in 1996. During this time, she developed a musical partnership with David Bilger, Principal Trumpet of the Philadelphia Orchestra, leading to several commissioned works for trumpet and synthesizer. Notable pieces include Night Sun Journey, premiered at the 1996 International Trumpet Guild Brassfest, and Places Where Rivers Meet, premiered at Washington National Cathedral in 1997. These works, along with others, are featured on the CD From the Dark Earth (1999). Her music has received airplay on programs such as Echoes and Music from the Hearts of Space, and she has contributed to compilation albums like The Other World (Hypnos Recordings) and Soundscape Gallery
