Mekanik Kommando was a New Wave band from Nijmegen, The Netherlands, founded in 1980 by two members of Zelek as part of the early 80s 'Ultra Movement' in Holland. The band released three albums through EMI before establishing their own record label, Rosebud Records. Over their career, Mekanik Kommando produced six albums and several film scores, performing hundreds of shows. Their musical style evolved over time, becoming more spheric, organic, and psychedelic, with a shift from electric to acoustic instruments. The band disbanded in 1988 due to musical differences, with some members pursuing other projects while Peter and Simon van Vliet continued on as a duo.
