Mel Brown was an American blues guitarist and pianist, born on October 7, 1939, in Jackson, Mississippi, USA. He passed away on March 20, 2009, in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. Known for his unique style of playing guitar, Mel Brown's sound in the 1960s leaned more towards jazz, making him one of the few blues artists to sign with a jazz label. Throughout his career, he collaborated with various artists and spent 11 years playing in Bobby "Blue" Bland's Orchestra during the 70s and 80s. In 1989, he relocated to Kitchener, Ontario, where he led the house band for the blues club Pop The Gator. Information about his father is not provided.
