Mel Henke was an American jazz pianist born on August 4, 1915, in Chicago, Illinois. He passed away on March 31, 1979, in Canoga Park, California. Throughout his career, Henke collaborated with notable musicians such as Bud Freeman in 1942, Horace Heidt in 1944, Bill Newman, and Shelly Manne. He had long solo residencies in Chicago and engaged in studio work for ABC and NBC before relocating to California, where he continued his studio work and composed for films.
