Memo Pimiento is a Mexican musician and live producer known for his unique fusion of Latin American cumbia culture and European electronic music. Growing up in Mexico City and living in various neighborhoods and small towns, he developed a deep appreciation for diverse musical styles. Memo studied classical music but transitioned to rock and electronic music, eventually working in sound design and composing music for television ads, which allowed him to explore popular rhythms like cumbia and salsa. In 2012, he and his Belgian girlfriend, Manon Amen, were invited to perform at the Fusion Festival in Germany, leading them to split their time between Europe and Mexico, with Brussels serving as their base. Together, they formed an electro-pop duo named Zorroz, while Memo also collaborated with various music groups across genres. In 2016, inspired by a distant beat reminiscent of Mexican street parties, he began developing his own project, Memo Pimiento, where he reimagines popular cumbia songs with an electronic twist. Memo's music features a blend of modified analog synths, samplers, and effects, supported by a dynamic live setup that includes Manon as a vibrant performer and Victor Hugo, a Cuban percussionist. His 2018 album, "A Todo Dar," showcases instrumental tracks with humorous and imaginative titles, reflecting his life experiences in Belgium and Mexico. Memo's performances have taken him across multiple countries, sharing stages with various artists and bringing a festive, energetic vibe to his audiences.
