Mercan Dede is a Turkish-born world-beat musician and producer known for his unique fusion of Eastern spiritual traditions, particularly Sufi music, with contemporary ambient sounds. His work blends the old and new, sacred and secular, as well as Eastern and Western influences. As an adherent of Sufi spirituality, Dede brings a holistic understanding of sound and the rhythms of nature and the universe to his interpretations of Sufi maqams, along with his original compositions.
