Merope is a world alternative music band comprised of five musicians, each hailing from different universes. This unique combination of artistic backgrounds creates an alchemy of sounds that resonates with a wide audience, thanks to their sensitivity and subtle blend of elements. The band's musical chemistry is particularly evident during live performances, where they draw inspiration from ancient Lithuanian songs, organic sounds, modern harmonies, and electronic music. Merope's music reflects their connection to nature and dreams, telling stories about the relationship between humans and the natural world. The band engages their audience in a musical journey that is both active and affective, crafting a new ritual music for contemporary times. Their debut album, "9 Days," was recorded using solar power in the open lands of southern Spain. In their second album, "Amaranthine," Merope dedicates the poetic textures and sounds of their inner journeys to the waters of the world. The members of Merope are: - Jean – Christophe Bonnafous (France) – bansuri - Indre Jurgeleviciute (Lithuania) – voice, kankles - Bert Cools (Belgium) – guitar and effects - Marcello Windolph (Germany/Brazil) – acoustic bass - Miguel Hiroshi (Spain) – percussion.
