The Metronomes, a legendary minimal synth band, first emerged in Melbourne in 1979. The initial lineup included rock journalist and synth player Al Webb, bass player Andrew Picouleau (known for his work with Secret Police and Sacred Cowboys), and synth pioneer Ash Wednesday. In 2010, they released a compilation titled "The Ballad Of The Metronomes," which features re-releases of their two LPs, "Multiple Choice" from 1980 and "Regular Guys" from 1985, along with their two singles, "Saturday Night / Sunday Morning" and "A Circuit Like Me."
