MGMT is an American psychedelic rock band formed by Benjamin Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden at Wesleyan University. Initially signed with Cantora Records, they later joined Columbia Records and Red Ink in 2006. The band gained recognition with their debut album, Oracular Spectacular, which debuted at No. 12 on the UK album chart and hit number one on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart. It was named the best album of 2008 by NME and the 18th best album of the decade by Rolling Stone. The band had significant success in Australia's Triple J Hottest 100 in 2008, with "Electric Feel," "Kids," and "Time to Pretend" ranking highly. MGMT was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2010, and their track "Kids" was nominated for Best Pop Performance By a Duo or Group with Vocals. The remix of "Electric Feel" by Justice won the Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical in 2009. Their second album, Congratulations, was released on April 13, 2010, followed by their third album in 2013.
