Michael Boothman is a pioneering Trinidadian guitarist, singer, and composer whose career helped shape the sound of Caribbean jazz and fusion. Emerging in the 1970s, he became known for blending calypso, soul, and jazz into a distinctive genre sometimes called “Caribbean jazz music.” With his band Family Tree, Boothman gained regional acclaim for his smooth grooves and sophisticated musicianship.
