Michael Andrews, born on November 17, 1967, is an American musician and film score composer. He initially gained recognition as the lead singer for The Origin, a band he formed with his longtime friend Gary Jules. After Jules departed before the release of their first album, Andrews continued with The Origin, which ultimately disbanded following two financially unsuccessful albums with Virgin Records. He then played and produced for various artists, including his old friend Gary Jules. One of his notable achievements is the acoustic cover of Tears For Fears' "Mad World," which he recorded for the Donnie Darko soundtrack and achieved significant chart success in the UK.
