Michael Cretu, born on May 18, 1957, in Bucharest, Romania, is a German-Romanian musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He began his musical journey at the Lyzeum No. 2 in Bucharest in 1965, studying piano, and later spent five months in Paris in 1968, where he developed an interest in Western pop music. After moving to Bad Homburg, Germany, he studied at the Academy of Music in Frankfurt, where he caught the attention of Professor Philipp Mohler. Cretu passed his final exams in 1978 and quickly began working as a studio musician and arranger. In January 1985, he met German pop singer Sandra, for whom he produced, arranged, and played drums and keyboards on the album "The Long Play." The couple moved to Ibiza, Spain, and married on January 7, 1988. In 1990, Cretu launched a successful new age album project characterized by the chanting of Gregorian monks, which gained popularity throughout Europe. Sandra contributed vocals to the albums until their marriage ended in 2008.
