Michael Martin Murphey is an American country and western singer-songwriter, born on March 14, 1945, in Dallas, Texas. He was a member of the Texas Twosome while still in high school and toured as "Travis Lewis" of The Lewis & Clarke Expedition in 1967. Murphey worked as a staff writer for Screen Gems and acted in the movies "Take This Job And Shove It" and "Hard Country." He is the father of two children.
