Michael O'Shea was a traveling acousto-electric troubadour and instrument-maker, known for creating the "Mó Cará," which means "My Friend" in Gaelic. This instrument combined the basic dulcimer shape, inspired by an instrument designed by Algerian musician Kris Hosylan Harpo, with elements from both the sitar and the Zelochord. His performances featured sounds from another self-created instrument, the "Black Hole Space Echo Box," enhanced with further amplification and electronics. Born on January 11, 1947, in Newry, Northern Ireland, O'Shea passed away on December 23, 1991, in London, United Kingdom, following a coma due to multiple injuries sustained from being struck by a London post-office van.
