Michael Rose, also known as Mykal Rose or Mykal Roze, is a Grammy award-winning reggae singer from Jamaica, born on July 11, 1957. Known for his wide-ranged voice, he initially modeled his style after other artists and frequently collaborated with singers, musicians, writers, and producers in Kingston during the 1970s, where he recorded his first successful songs. Rose was the lead singer of the group from 1977 to 1984, during which time he won the first Reggae Grammy. He later resumed his solo career and was the first artist to achieve success with the Fire-House style of singing, named after the Water House area in Kingston, Jamaica, where he resided.
