Mick Jackson is a British singer-songwriter born in Münster, Germany, on November 2, 1947. He is the original composer of the song "Blame It On The Boogie," which was written with the Jacksons in mind. The track gained attention at the 1978 MIDEM Music Festival in Cannes, where a manager, scouting for hits, was impressed by both the name coincidence and the composition. This manager returned to the United States and had the Jacksons quickly record their version, which was released just before Mick Jackson's original. The releases of both versions occurred within days of each other, leading to media coverage that dubbed it 'The Battle of the Boogie.' As both versions climbed the charts on both sides of the Atlantic, the press and public eagerly followed the competition. It is worth noting that when "M. Jackson" appears under the title "Blame It On The Boogie," alongside "D. Jackson" (Mick's own brother) and "E. Krohn," it refers to Mick Jackson, contrary to the common belief that it signifies Michael Jackson.
