Mickey Baker, also known as Mickey "Guitar" Baker, was an American jazz guitarist and singer born on October 15, 1925, in Louisville, Kentucky. He is widely recognized as a significant figure in the transition between rhythm and blues and rock and roll. Throughout his career, Baker contributed to numerous hit records on notable labels such as Atlantic, Savoy, and King. He was also the author of "The Complete Course in Jazz Guitar," a self-tuition series that has been a staple for introducing guitar students to jazz for over fifty years. Mickey Baker passed away on November 27, 2012, in Toulouse, France.
