**Bio: Midwinter** Midwinter was formed in December 1972 when guitarists Paul Corrick and Ken Saul came together to prepare for a Great Yarmouth folk club Christmas Party. Initially, they created a guitar duet version of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" and invited singer Jill Child to join them, thus forming a trio. Their interest in local folklore and legends inspired them to write original songs, including "Sanctuary Stone" and "The Skater," which were performed during their first gig. Over the next two years, Midwinter gained popularity, performing at clubs and festivals throughout East Anglia and serving as residents at the Great Yarmouth club. The band's name was inspired by a title of a John Buchan novel, coinciding with the season of their inception. In the summer of 1973, they recorded a demo tape featuring some of their songs, joined by Dick Cadbury and Mick Burroughs. Although these recordings remained unreleased for many years, they were later rediscovered in Ken's attic. Midwinter concluded its journey when Jill Child left the band after a farewell concert on September 11, 1974. Following this, Ken and Paul went on to form a new band called Stoneangel.
