Mighty Baby was formed in 1968 by ex-members of a band that had evolved from beat to mod to psych. Active until 1971, they were a UK hippy prog outfit known for their wide-ranging sound that bridged various rock and prog styles, incorporating blues and folk elements. They have been compared to bands like Wishbone Ash, early Hawkwind, and Magic Muscle, and some members were influenced by Muslim philosophy, which significantly impacted their music. Often referred to as the British Grateful Dead, they are particularly known for their live recording "A Blanket In My Muesli," which features jamming in a freeform style reminiscent of the Grateful Dead. Additional material in this vein can be found in the archive collections "Live In The Attic" and "Tasting The Life: Live 1971." Members of the band can also be heard on recordings from 1970, 1971, and 1972.
