Mighty Diamonds were a renowned Jamaican harmony trio formed in 1969 in the Trenchtown area of Kingston. The group consisted of lead vocalist Donald "Tabby" Shaw and harmony vocalists Fitzroy "Bunny" Simpson and Lloyd "Judge" Ferguson. They initially called themselves The Limelight, later adopting the name Mighty Diamonds after Shaw's mother referred to them as "the diamonds." Their smooth harmonies and choreographed performances were influenced by Motown vocal groups of the 1960s, including The Temptations and The Stylistics, as well as Jamaican rocksteady artists like John Holt and Ken Boothe. The trio began their recording career with producers such as Pat Francis, Stranger Cole, and Derrick Harriott, achieving their first hit single in 1973 with "Shame and Pride." Their collaboration with producer Joseph Hoo Kim in the mid-1970s marked a significant breakthrough, leading to the release of their debut album, Right Time, in 1976, which became an international success. They continued to work with Virgin Records, although their follow-up album, Ice on Fire, produced in New Orleans, did not resonate with reggae fans. Returning to Jamaica, they released the album Stand Up to Your Judgment in 1978 and continued to produce hit singles, including their successful 1979 album Deeper Roots. In the early 1980s, they collaborated with producer Gussie Clarke, which resulted in popular tracks like "Pass the Kouch
