**Bio of Mighty Duke** Mighty Duke, born in Point Fortin, South Trinidad, is a celebrated figure in the calypso world, known for his unique voice and mastery of composition. His ability to tackle social themes with political commentary, humor, and dignity made him a favorite among calypso enthusiasts. Renowned for his charismatic stage presence and impeccable fashion sense, Duke stood out in an industry filled with strong personalities. He is the only Calypsonian in Trinidad and Tobago’s history to win the Calypso Monarch title four consecutive times from 1968 to 1971, with notable songs such as “What is Calypso,” “Black is Beautiful,” “Brotherhood of Man,” and “Mathematical Formula.” Additionally, he won the Road March Title with “Thunder” in 1987. Throughout his career, which spanned over 50 years, Duke showcased a deep understanding of both international and regional Caribbean issues. His songs, including “How Many More Must Die” and “Apartheid,” reflect his criticism of colonialism and apartheid.
