Mika Vainio (born May 15, 1963, in Helsinki, Finland - died April 12, 2017, in France, aged 53) was a Finnish electronic musician, composer, and producer. He began his musical career playing electronics and drums within the early Finnish industrial and noise scene. In 1993, he co-founded the minimal electronic group Pan Sonic, along with Sami Salo. After Salo left the group in 1996, Vainio continued as a duo until the project disbanded in 2009. Following this, he established a successful solo career, often collaborating with experimental French composer.
