Mika Vainio (born 15 May 1963, Helsinki, Finland - died 12 April 2017, France, aged 53) was a Finnish electronic musician, composer, and producer. He began his musical career playing electronics and drums within the early Finnish industrial and noise scene. In 1993, he co-founded the minimal electronic group Pan Sonic. After Sami Salo left the group in 1996, Vainio continued as a duo until the project disbanded in 2009. Following this, he established a successful solo career and frequently collaborated with experimental French composer.
