Minty was formed in 1993 by Leigh Bowery and Richard Torry, emerging from Bowery's previous musical endeavors, The Quality Street Wrappers and Raw Sewage. Minty aimed for a more serious recognition in the music scene and soon expanded to include members like Matthew Glamorre and Nicola Bowery. The group gained notoriety for their provocative theatrical performances, most notably featuring Leigh "giving birth" to Nicola on stage, which led to their Soho club residency being shut down by Westminster Council for being deemed indecent. In their initial phase, Minty released a single titled "Useless Man," which became a chart hit in the Netherlands. Following Leigh's death on December 31, 1994, the remaining members formed a collective in his memory called The Offset, which included notable figures such as Kinky Roland and Aiden Shaw. They continued to produce music as Minty, releasing three additional singles—"Plastic Bag," "That's Nice," and "Nothing"—along with an album titled "Open Wide," featuring material recorded with Leigh. Matthew Glamorre and Richard Torry continue to collaborate on various music and club projects in London, including The Soundstorm, Siren Suite, and Kash Point.
