Formed in Boston in 1979, Mission of Burma emerged as one of the most influential post-punk bands of the early ’80s, blending raw energy, jagged guitar work, and experimental tape manipulations. Their groundbreaking EP *Signals, Calls, and Marches* and debut album *Vs.* helped define the American indie underground, inspiring generations of alternative and post-punk acts. Although the band initially disbanded in 1983 due to guitarist Roger Miller’s hearing issues, they reunited in 2002, releasing acclaimed albums that reaffirmed their enduring creative force and uncompromising sound.
