Mitchum Yacoub is an Egyptian-American multi-instrumentalist, producer, and DJ based in San Diego, CA. A lifelong drummer, he has contributed to various projects in afrobeat, soul, funk, dub, and rocksteady, cultivating a distinctive style that blends roots and dance music. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Fela Kuti, Dr. Dre, and James Brown, his music evokes the vibrant sounds of 1970s Africa, featuring strong, repetitive grooves enhanced by Afro-Latin percussion and dynamic, well-executed horn lines that invite all dancers to the floor.
