**Bio of Mix Master Mike** Mix Master Mike is a renowned scratch artist and DJ, hailing from San Francisco. His passion for vinyl began in his childhood, influenced by his uncle's extensive record collection. A pivotal moment in his career was witnessing Grandmixer D. ST. perform live with Herbie Hancock, which ignited his love for hip-hop and scratching. Mike initially entered the mobile DJ scene, performing at house parties and weddings, where he honed his skills. It was at one of these events that he met Richard Quitevis, known as DJ Q-Bert, who was inspired by Mike's scratching technique. Their friendship blossomed, leading to significant collaborations. In 1992, Mike made history as the first West Coast DJ to win the New Music Seminar DJ Battle for World Supremacy in New York City. That same year, he, DJ Apollo, and Q-Bert formed the first-ever scratch band and won the DMC World title. The duo of Mike and Q-Bert, known as "The Dream Team," continued their success by winning the title again in 1993. After three consecutive world titles, they stepped down from competition in 1994 and became DMC judges.
