Moğollar is a musical group formed in the 1960s by four young Turks from different Anatolian villages. They bonded over their shared love for traditional music and the emerging pop sounds from Europe. The members, all skilled musicians, incorporated traditional Turkish instruments along with guitar, piano, and organ into their music. They launched their group in 1967 and quickly rose to prominence, topping the Turkish Hit Parade, a feat usually reserved for British and American artists. Their music, rooted in the rich folklore of Anatolia and infused with modern rhythms, inspired the creation of many other new groups and garnered immense popularity across Turkey, even reaching the most remote villages.
