Mogollar is a Turkish music group formed in the 1960s by four young men from different Anatolian villages. They bonded over their shared love for traditional music and the emerging pop sounds of Europe. The members, all skilled musicians, played traditional Turkish instruments and incorporated guitar, piano, and organ into their music by the time they launched their group in 1967. Mogollar quickly rose to prominence, topping the Turkish Hit Parade, a feat typically reserved for British and American artists. Their unique sound, rooted in the rich folklore of Anatolia and infused with modern rhythms, inspired the creation of many other new music groups. Anadolu pop has since gained a massive following, reaching even the most remote villages in Turkey.
