Molly Drake, born Mary Lloyd on November 5, 1915, was a notable figure in the lives of her children, including musician Nick Drake and actress Gabrielle Drake. She married Rodney Drake on April 14, 1937, in Rangoon, Burma, where they lived for fifteen years. The couple faced challenges during the disturbances in Burma in the 1940s, leading them to move between Burma and India. Their first child, Gabrielle, was born in 1944, followed by Nick in 1948. In 1952, the family relocated to Tanworth-in-Arden, England, where they settled in a house called Far Leys. Molly was an early influence on Nick, playing the piano and composing songs, including a suite of children's songs for her children. After Rodney's death in 1988, she moved to a smaller home in the village. Molly passed away on June 4, 1993, and is buried alongside Nick and Rodney at St Mary Magdalene churchyard in Tanworth-in-Arden.
