MonoMono was a band formed in Lagos, Nigeria, in 1971, featuring Sierra Leone-born Joni Haastrup on lead vocals and keyboards, Baba Kenneth Okolulo on bass and vocals, and Danjuma "Jimi Lee" Adamu on guitars and vocals. Other members included Friday Jumbo and Candido Obajimi. The band produced several singles and two full-length LPs. Soundway Records reissued their first two albums in 2011: 1972’s "Give the Beggar a Chance" and 1974’s "The Dawn of Awareness." MonoMono's sound gained popularity among Nigeria's middle-class youth. The band disbanded around 1975 or 1976.
