Monty Waters is an American jazz alto saxophonist born in April 1938 in Modesto, California. He led his own band in San Francisco before working with notable musicians from 1965 to 1968, including Miles Davis. In 1968, he moved to New York with Hendricks and subsequently collaborated with Elvin Jones, George Coleman, Woody Shaw, and others. Waters recorded music in 1975, from 1976 to 1980, and again in 1980 and 1984.
