Morgana King was an American jazz singer and actress, born on June 4, 1930, in Pleasantville, New York. She began her professional singing career at the age of sixteen and possessed a remarkable four-octave contralto vocal range. In 1964, she received a Grammy Award nomination for Best New Artist, although the award went to the Beatles. Throughout her career, she headlined clubs, concert halls, and hotels, touring extensively across the United States, Europe, Australia, and South America. One of her notable charting songs, "I Have Loved Me a Man," reached #34 on the U.S. adult contemporary charts in 1967. Morgana King passed away on March 22, 2018, at the age of 87 in Palm Springs, California. She was married twice.
