Morris Day is a soul-funk singer and songwriter, born on December 13, 1957, in Minneapolis, MN, U.S. He is one of the leading figures in the Minneapolis funk scene. Day was a member of a high school band called Grand Central and later Shampayne. He became the lead singer of The Time, releasing five albums with the group, including the final one credited as The Original 7ven. In 1985, he embarked on a solo career, releasing four albums up until 2004. Day also appeared in the movies "Purple Rain" and "Graffiti Bridge." In 1985, he duetted with Sheila E. on "Mechanical Emotion."
