Real Name: Morucha Profile: Ana María Mascareña Benedicto, known as La Morucha, is a Spanish actress, singer, and dancer born in Barcelona in 1948. She was friends and collaborators with La Polaca, appearing alongside her in the film "El amor brujo" (1967) directed by Rovira Beleta. Morucha's film career began earlier, in 1962, when she starred in a popular child-prodigy singer film, presenting herself to the public as a new Marisol. Throughout the 1960s, she recorded several albums and, in the early 1970s, moved to Mexico, where she achieved considerable success, also in Venezuela and other American countries, ultimately settling there to continue her artistic career. A notable characteristic of Morucha, like many of her contemporaries, was her use of false eyelashes, which she famously wore even to the beach, never knowing who might appear. As a singer, she began recording in 1963, and from 1965 onwards, her style evolved to incorporate Caribbean sounds and pop influences.
