Real Name: Mother Superia Born in Miami, Florida, USA, Mother Superia is a formidable female rapper reminiscent of MC Lyte. After spending nearly nine years away from the music scene, she released her debut album, "Levitation," in 1997. Influenced by the old-school rap styles of KRS-One, Melle Mel, and Eric B. and Rakim, she signed with Island Records subsidiary 4th & Broadway, known for its history with pioneering rap artists. Her hardcore lyrics, which convey strong social messages through metaphor, drew comparisons to Queen Latifah. She gained attention from 4th & Broadway with her independently released local hit "Rock Bottom," which became the biggest rap song to emerge from Miami since the peak of 2 Live Crew, leading to the city being referred to as "The Bottom" in rap circles. Staying true to her roots, Superia collaborated with an all-Miami production team for her debut album.
