**Motörhead Bio** Motörhead was an English rock band formed in June 1975 by bassist, singer, and songwriter Ian Fraser Kilmister, known as Lemmy. He remained the sole constant member throughout the band's existence. Often considered a precursor to the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, Motörhead played a significant role in revitalizing heavy metal in the late 1970s and early 1980s, although Lemmy described their music simply as "rock and roll." The band released twenty-three studio albums, ten live recordings, twelve compilation albums, and five EPs. Typically a power trio, they achieved notable success in the early 1980s with several singles reaching the UK Top 40. Albums such as *Overkill*, *Bomber*, *Ace of Spades*, and *No Sleep 'til Hammersmith* solidified their reputation as a top-tier rock band. By 2012, Motörhead had sold over 15 million albums worldwide. Musically, they are classified as Rock N Roll, with a fusion of punk rock that helped pioneer speed metal and thrash metal. Their lyrics often addressed themes of war, good versus evil, abuse of power, promiscuous sex, substance abuse, and gambling. The name "Motörhead" refers to users of amphetamines, and their iconic logo, featuring a fanged face with boar's tusks, was designed by artist Joe Petagno in 1977
