M'PONGO LOVE was a Congolese singer and songwriter born on August 27, 1956, in Boma, Belgian Congo. She passed away on January 15, 1990, in Kinshasa, Zaire. In December 1975, she met saxophonist Loway, who helped her develop her singing career by assisting her in forming the orchestra Tsheke-Tsheke Love and composing her first songs. Throughout 1977, she performed with an additional backing group called Les Ya Tupa's. In 1980, M'PONGO LOVE ended her professional relationship with Empompo to pursue an independent career, during which she composed and arranged her own music and later produced music under her own label.
