Mpongo Love was a Congolese singer and songwriter born on August 27, 1956, in Boma, Belgian Congo. She passed away on January 15, 1990, in Kinshasa, Zaire. In December 1975, she met saxophonist Loway, who helped her develop her singing career and assisted her in forming the orchestra Tsheke-Tsheke Love, where she began composing her first songs. Throughout 1977, she performed with the backing group Les Ya Tupa's. In 1980, she ended her professional relationship with Empompo to work independently, focusing on composing and arranging her own music. Later, she produced music under her own label.
