Mr. Oizo is a French electronic artist and the best-known pseudonym of a musician and movie director. He gained fame after his instrumental track was featured in two commercials for a jeans brand in 1999, which also showcased the puppet Flat Eric, created by Dupieux. The name "Oizo" is a homophonic intentional misspelling of the French word "oiseau," meaning "bird."
