Mr. C is an English DJ, producer, and songwriter, born on January 2, 1965, in Mile End, London. He is best known as the frontman and vocalist for The Shamen, a group he co-founded. Mr. C started his career as an MC in London clubs at the age of 16, quickly gaining a reputation as a rapper. In the late 1980s, he became the resident rapper at a club before moving on to perform as an MC at another venue. In 1987, he collaborated with others as part of a project that inspired his transition to DJing. As the frontman, songwriter, and producer of The Shamen, he achieved a series of top-10 hits. In 1995, Mr. C co-opened a nightclub, and three years later, he opened the AKA Bar. Both establishments closed in January 2009. Throughout the 2000s, he was a pioneer of Techno House, collaborating with other artists in the genre. Throughout his career, Mr. C has continued to organize, promote, and perform at various festivals around the world.
