Mr. Chop, the pseudonym of musician and producer Coz Littler, has carved out a niche for himself with a passion for vintage sounds and technology. His musical education was significantly shaped by exploring his father's record collection and a lifetime of record collecting, which included genres such as beat-era pop, progressive rock, psychedelia, early funk, hip hop, library music, soundtracks, krautrock, and electronic music. This diverse exposure fostered a deep appreciation for a wide range of styles and recording techniques that emerged in the 1960s and beyond. Dissatisfied with conventional recording studios, Mr. Chop established his own facility, APE Studios (Analogue Production Environment), equipped with vintage analog recording and processing gear, period instruments, and modern digital software, allowing him to blend traditional and contemporary studio methods. He debuted as a recording artist in 2008 with his first album, Sounds from the Cave, released under the Now Again label, a subsidiary of Stones Throw. The same year, he released Lightworlds. In 2009, Mr. Chop paid tribute to hip-hop legend Pete Rock with For Pete's Sake and collaborated with MF Doom, who praised him as "the illest to grace the boards." This collaboration helped him gain a strong reputation in the U.K.'s electronic music scene. His 2011 album, Switched On, celebrated the classic sounds that influenced him through a modern lens. He later partnered with A&R expert Joe Fearon
