Muddy Waters, born on April 4, 1913, in Rolling Fork, Mississippi, was an influential American blues guitarist, singer, and composer. He passed away on April 30, 1983, in Westmont, Illinois. Recognized as a founder of the modern Chicago Blues style, Waters played a pivotal role in the development of electric blues and inspired many electric blues-oriented groups in the UK during the 1960s. He became the most prominent interpreter of electric blues. Although he indicated the year of his birth as 1913 on his marriage license and Musician's Union card, his gravestone is dated 1915. Muddy Waters was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 as a performer. He was the father of three children, one of whom passed away on December 10, 2020, at the age of 56.
