Muluken Mellesse was an Ethiopian singer and drummer, born in 1954 in Gojjam, Ethiopia. He spent his early years in an orphanage, where he received basic music education. At the age of six, he traveled with his uncle and eventually settled in Addis Ababa. Muluken began his singing career at the young age of 12 in 1966. After more than 25 years in the music industry, he became a born-again Protestant Christian. In 1984, he relocated to Washington, D.C., where he continued to perform gospel music at church events internationally until his death on April 9, 2024, at the age of 70.
