Musician of the Nile, known as Les Musiciens Du Nil in French, is a renowned Upper-Egyptian folk musician and his troupe, recognized in the West. Metqāl specializes in southern Egyptian folk music, locally referred to as Ṣaʿīdī, with the Rababa as the primary instrument. For marketing purposes, this music was sometimes categorized as gypsy music in the West.
