Mütiilation is a French black metal band that gained underground fame in the mid-1990s, particularly with their 1995 album "Vampires Of Black Imperial Blood." The band initially recorded a couple of demos and a shelved album titled "Evil, The Gestalt Of Abomination." Known for their raw black metal style, Mütiilation's 90s releases, especially their full-length albums, pushed lo-fi quality to new extremes. After the success of "Vampires Of Black Imperial Blood," main member Meyhna'ch proclaimed himself dead and disbanded. In 2001, Mütiilation returned as a solo project for Meyhna'ch with the album "Black Millenium (Grimly Reborn)," followed by a series of demos and albums, all featuring a drum machine. However, in December 2009, Meyhna'ch decided to quit Mütiilation for good. The band was the longest-lasting entity of the legendary collective known as The Black Legions (Les Légions Noires), a group of French satanic black metal musicians known for their limited music releases. In 2024, Mütiilation was reformed and is active again.
