Mydolls is a punk/post-punk band formed in Houston, Texas, in 1978 by Trish Herrera (guitar and vocals) and Dianna Ray (bass and chanting). They were soon joined by Linda Younger (guitar and vocals) and Herrera’s cousin George Reyes (drums). The band was active until 1986, after which they reformed in 2008. Kathy Johnston, Ray's future wife, performed with the Mydolls at their farewell show and continued as a member until her passing in 2011. The Mydolls were largely self-taught and played their instruments unconventionally, creating a layered sound. They were part of the early Houston punk community and performed with notable bands such as Degenerates, Hates, Culturcide, and the Butthole Surfers. Their music drew influence from artists like the Red Crayola, Wire, Velvet Underground, and the Raincoats. The band's name was inspired by the over-the-counter medicine Midol. In the 1980s, the Mydolls released three recordings on C.I.A. Records and contributed to various compilations. A retrospective, "A World of Her Own," was released in 2005. Their song "Imposter" featured in Claire Denis’s 2008 film "35 Shots of Rum." After their first single, "Nova Grows Up/Therapist/In Technicolor," the band toured London, where they were interviewed
