Naseer Shamma is an Iraqi oud player and composer, born in Al-Kut in 1963. He studied at the Baghdad Institute of Music, where he earned a diploma in musical art in 1987. Shamma has developed his own unique 8-string oud and is currently the director of the Beit Al-Oud Al-Arabi in Al-Harawi, Cairo, a position he has held since the institution's founding in 1998.
